What to eat in Bangkok? What are the main things to eat in Thailand? Obviously it’s impossible to make a list of the delicacies that you can eat in Thailand. In particular, the Thai capital has an impressive blend of traditional plates, street food, junk food. Thai cuisine uses indistinctly sweet, salty, spices, fruit, fish and meat in every dish. Obviously, when talking about things to eat in Bangkok remember that it is virtually impossible to eat without rice. The rice is everywhere. Personally, the Thai cuisine very impressed me, although it was not love at first sight.

Anyone who has read my opinions on Bangkok will already know about smells. They are one of the characteristic features of the Thai capital. Obviously, this was my first impression. Once acclimated to the various smells, you’ll be immediately surprised by the variety of foods. One on all the Pad Thai. The pad thai is a dish consisting of rice noodles stir-fried with eggs, chili, fish sauce, chicken or tofu, tamarind juice, bean sprouts, shrimp, lime, peanut and coriandolo. However, among the fruits that I recommend to eat in Thailand are dragon fruit, durian, guava, mangosteen, the jack fruit. Don’t miss the chance to eat in Bangkok the durian, also known as the “stinker”. Because of its smell it’s banned in many public places and hotels but its flavor is outstanding. Here are other Thai dishes. The Khaw Pad, prepared with vegetables and fried rice; the Morning Glory, a sort of vegetable salad; and my favorite, the Tom Yum Goong, the most famous soup of Thailand. The Tom Yum Goong is a spicy soup with shrimp, coconut, tomatoes, shallot and various herbs.

Bangkok’s cuisine is an integral part of Thai cuisine. It differs mainly because of the abundance of street foods. So, what to eat in Bangkok? Practically every sidewalk is occupied by stalls selling all manner whose colors, smells and flavors, continually stimulate your senses. Thai street food is more than just food, it’s a ritual. Every day at dawn, hundreds of stalls are set up only to be dismantled at night. But the in Thai street food hygiene is an utopia, and you have to consider where to eat and what to eat in Bangkok in the street. Among the specialties that you can taste in street there are: chicken skewers, pork skewers, duck skewers, crocodile skewers (?) and Shark skewers (?). Must try are pretty much fresh fruit juices to less than € 0.3 each. And all sorts of exotic fruit in pieces and trays. And of course you have to eat absolutely in Thailand the multitude of dishes stir plates, the meats and roasted fish.

Obviously, I was mainly in Bangkok and Koh Samui. So, having said what to eat in Bangkok I can only open a parenthesis which explains what to eat in Koh Samui in Thailand. One of the main dishes to eat at the restaurants on the beach, or in the streets of the center of Koh Samui, is definitely the grilled fish. Famous is the Grilled King Prawn, a giant prawn. Among the grilled fish are pangasius, shark, barracuda, lobsters, tuna. Many are also the raw seafood (which I didn’t try). Among the things to eat in Thailand and in Koh Samui we also find the ice and centrifuged fruit. No master craftsmen such as Italian ice cream, but the taste of the fruits are amazing.
